LTTE cadres hiding in the jungles of Pannalagama in Damana in Ampara district shot dead a father and his son who had gone to fetch firewood.

"The Tigers had shot and wounded two more persons who accompanied them", police said.

The father was in the Civil Defence Force and the son was a year 4 student at the Pannalagama Vidyalaya, police said. A resident of the area had told police that he saw a group of Tiger cadres hanging around the adjacent Pannalagama Oya.

The deceased were identified as U. R. Priyantha and nine year old Lakshan Madusitha while the injured were K. D. Douglas and H. M. Wimalasena.
