

Otters Aquatic Club defeated strong Police BC by 78 points to 60, to continue their unbeaten run, in the ‘Otters Diamond Jubilee Invitational Club Basketball Tournament’ played at Otters courts, Colombo, on Friday (19).
The hosts were in the hunt by leading 40-28 at the end of the first half and went on to further the gap in the second half too. Shanaka Perera led in front netting 24 points for the hosts and he was amply helped by M.K. Shiran who scored 23 points. For Police, Aman Razak netted 12.
Colombo Bulls’ fight back wasn’t good enough to beat Wattla BC as they went down by 74 points 63 in another match also played on Friday.
Wattala BC were ahead 50-29 points at the end of the first half and kept their lead in the second half as well. Maxuel Saranapala and Pragith Pushpakumara scored 18 points each for Wattala while Tissara Chaturanga played a lone hand netting 21 points for the Colombo Bulls. Sanketha Jayarathna of Wattla finished as the player of the match.
Duke Rajapaksha (20), who became player of the match in the end, and Vajira Kumarasinghe (16) shared 36 points between them to guide Colombo Bulls 71-62 win against Old Bens on Thursday. For Old Bens, Ravi Dodangoda netted 21 points.
Meanwhile, in another match also played on Thursday was won by Otters as they defeated Colombo Bulls by 92 points to 74. Gayan Meedeniya top scored with 28 points for hosts while Roshan Fernando netted 14 points for Colombo BC. Shanaka Perera of Otters, who scored 22 points, finished as the player of the match.
