


Urging the government to immediately pass on the benefit
of the rapidly dwindling world crude oil prices to the people, the JVP
yesterday advised the media to criticize President Mahinda Rajapaksa who
holds the finance portfolio.
Responding to ‘The Island’ queries, JVP MP Vijitha
Herath told a press conference at the Hotel Nippon that criticism should
be squarely placed on the President and the Cabinet of Ministers.


Lanka’s third president is
dead
Sri Lanka’s third President D. B. Wijetunga who lived a
simple life setting an example to many a politician of the day, passed
away Sunday morning at the Kandy General Hospital. He was 93 at the time
of his death.

Accusing the Health Ministry of a cover up regarding the
shocking use of outdated blood transfusion kits, Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena,
