

Mirihana police are in search of businessman, who ran a successful English tuition class and an unregistered finance company which offered tempting interest rates, far above those given by other financial institutions, over numerous complaints from investors that they had been swindled.
THe tution master had moved with the elite and VIPs as a part of his modus operandi to impress would be investors. Police believe he may have left the country taking his family with him after swindling a large number of investors of millions.
He had paid a number of investor the promised rates of interest at the beginning and his circle of victims had started widening when the word was spread, police said.
The tuition master had suddenly disappeared and a large number of complainants were being received by the Mirihana Police almost daily about the large sums of money they had deposited in in finance company, police said.
A person, who had closely associated with the suspect tuition master and who is believed to have deposited a large sum of money in bank accounts abroad, was questioned by the police yesterday.
Police have been watching the wanted man’s residence around the clock but have not been able to come up with anything.
