I mentioned the other day to some of my office colleagues that I have to spend a big slice of my salary to pay the electricity bill, which was high, because of the refrigerator. (The month I did not use the fridge, when it was out of order, the consumption of electricity was almost half). One of them suggested that I switch it off every day in the morning, and switch it on at night.
Whereas a relative of mine yesterday recommended that I switch it on during the daytime and switch it off during the night and that I will save on electricity considerably.
Could any reader or anyone from the Electricity Board or any expert from any of the companies marketing fridges comment on whether there will be any considerable saving as such and whether the above switch on / switch off operation will affect the life span of the compressor and upset the working of the fridge in the long run?
