Colombo International School wins Girls’ C’ship

The Inter-International Schools Under-15 Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball tournament, which got underway on September 10, has come to its final stage, with the hosts, Colombo International School winning the girls’ championship last Wednesday beating Asian International School by 18 points.

It was almost plain sailing for the hosts who won 30-12. At the short whistle, the hosts were ahead by just two points (7-5), but the winners turned on the heat in the second half to win by a margin of 18 points. The Best Defensive Player was Hannah Deen of Asian International School. The Best Offensive Player was C. Mendis of CIS while the Most Valuable Player was Sarah Peterson of CIS.

Fourteen international schools took part in the Girls’ category this year.

Meanwhile, the two Boys’ semifinals were between Colombo International School and Asian International School and Lyceum International School and Gateway College. CIS Vs AIS match was a nail-biter with the former winning the game 41-39.

In the second match LIS beat Gateway College 44-26. At the short whistle it was 14 all. The Boys’ final will be played on September 29 between Lyceum International School and Colombo International School.
