Former Inspector General of Police and Governor of the North Victor Perera said he resigned the governorship due to personal reasons.
He told The Island yesterday that the pressure of work as Governor would not permit him to attend to a number urgent private matters which needed his personal attention.
He said some people had expressed different views on his resignation as Governor of the Northern Province but when President Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed him he had told the President that he could hold the office only for a short time. "I want to live a quiet life as a private citizen without taking on more responsibilities now," he said.
