

CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (AP) - Daniel Vettori and Iain O’Brien claimed two wickets apiece to restrict Bangladesh to 101 for 4 wickets at tea Friday on the opening day of the first cricket test against New Zealand.
Resuming the second session at 34-1 the lowly ranked Bangladesh quickly lost three wickets after lunch.Vettori removed opener Tamim Iqbal with the second ball of the 31st over, while fast bowler Iain O’Brien bowled out Rajin Saleh (20) in the 42nd over to take his second wicket.
Vettori earlier trapped skipper Mohammad Ashraful lbw for 2 as Bangladesh struggled to gather runs after losing its first wicket in the second over of the day.
Bangladesh tumbled to 44-4 in the 43rd over before Mehrab Hossain combined with Mushfiqur Rahim for a 50-rin partnership to steady the innings. Hossain was unbeaten on 42 while Rahim was 19 not out in his supporting role at tea. O’Brien trapped Bangladesh opener Zunaid Siddiqui for a duck after Ashraful won the toss and opted to bat first.
Birsrestha Ruhul Amin stadium wicket and the New Zealand fielders squandered catching opportunities off Iqbal and his second wicke partner Saleh before lunch. Bangladesh has never won a test match against New Zealand. New Zealand won the preceding limited-overs series 2-1 this month.Scoreboard
