Mr. Harry Jayawardena has succeeded the late Dr. V.P. Vittachi as Chairman of Lanka Milk Foods (CWE) PLC (LMF) with effect from October 7 while his daughter, Ms. D.S.C. Jayawardena, has joined the board of that company with effect from October 15.

The Stassen/Milford group controls LMF and the four directors of that group, Vittachi, Jayawardena, R.K. Obeyesekere and Zaki Alif were represented on that company’s board.

Vittachi, Obeyesekere and Alif have strong differences with Jayawardena and this matter is now in court.

Jayawardena’s appointment as Chairman of LMF and his daughter’s appointment to the board of this company have been conveyed to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) which has also been informed that Mr. Sanjeev Rajaratnam has been appointed a Non-Executive Director of Colombo Investment Trust PLC and Colombo Fort Investments PLC with effect from October 1.

The appointment of Mr. Suresh Amerasekara as General Manager/CEO of the HDFC Bank from October 2 and the retirement of Mr. Edgar Gunatunge as Chairman of the Sampath Bank PLC has also been conveyed to the CSE.
