

The National Crafts Council (NCC) in collaboration with Sri Lanka High Commission in India has organized "Shilpa Sri Lanka" which will be held in Dilli Haat, New Delhi India commencing today and ending on November 3.
Shilpa Sri Lanka is a handicrafts exhibition and trade fair in which veteran Sri Lankan handicrafts artistes are able to showcase and sell their creations, the NCC said.
National Crafts Council Development Assistant Ms. Geethani Weeratunge told The Island Financial Review that 31 artisans engaged in various fields of craftmanships would participate at the exhibition and six master artisans would represent Sri Lanka. These six artisans would also exchange crafts with India.
She said that the artisans would demonstrate their latent talents and skills in batik, lace, silver, jewellery, reed and rush ware, wood carving and brass-ware.
Ms. Weeratuge added that Rural Industries and Self-Employment Promotion Minister S.B.Navinna, Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda and Minister of Textile India Shankasin Vaghela would be the chief guests on the occasion.
