Association formed to defend rights of Sakvithi investors
Several people who fell victim to Sakvithi Ranasinghe and lost millions of rupees have formed an association called Association to Protect the Rights of Depositors. With the instructions and guidance of this Association some victims have filed private plaints in Court to claim their money.

Three such cases were filed in the Gangodawila Magistrates court last week.

One plaint was filed by K. S. Sugathadasa of Madapatha, a physically handicapped person who had lost a hand. He said in his plaint that he sold a land in Matara that belonged to his father and deposited Rs 1 million with the Sakvithi Construction Company, but he neither got any interest nor the capital he deposited with Company.

Following this plaint the Court issued an open warrant for the arrest of Sakvithi Ranasinghe.

Similar plaints have also been filed by two others. one was H. A. Dayananda, a blind person. Another person named Hettiarachige Sirisumana had deposited his money for the welfare of his mentally retarded son.

The Association in a press release said that in addition to action taken by the Police it also would file similar cases in future, too.
