Teachers responsible for
development of schools -Athauda
RATHNAPURA - "The development of a school rests in the hands of the teachers. Those who shirk their responsibilities see their schools deteriorate gradually. Teaching alone is not sufficient Teachers should prepare the children to face exams".

This was stated by Labour Relations and Manpower Minister Athauda Seneviratne, when he opened a fully repaired primary school building of the Niyadurupla Maha Vidyalaya in the Kegalle district, recently.

The minister said that he noticed the teachers in this school did their duties well. A Grade 5 student Viraj Srimal Wijeyananda, taking the 4th place in the district at the Grade 5 scholarship exam is testimony to the hard work of the teachers. The development of a school rests not in providing material resources but by making the students pass the exams, he said.
