Former Treasury Secretary Dr. P. B. Jayasundera yesterday submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court, stating that he had offered to resign from State office on July 25, 2008 but the President had wanted him to continue.

His letter of resignation was accepted on September 17, 2008. He also said that he had shed all his shares in five limited liability companies where the State held share.
