The Sri Lankan High Commission in London organised an exhibition of photographs depicting LTTE atrocities.

Lord Naseby was the chief guest at the event held last Wednesday in London under the patronage of High Commissioner Nihal Jayasinghe.

Lord Naseby said at the opening that it’s high time the LTTE stopped its scourge of terror and violence. He said he had been visiting Sri Lanka since 1953 and this photo exhibition shows vividly the atrocities committed by the ruthless LTTE terrorists.

He said the LTTE has been banned as a terrorist organisation in Britain and some other parts of the world. It is the duty of these countries to make sure that the LTTE is not allowed to hold rallies and collect funds.

He said that before he visits Sri Lanka the next time, his wish is to see the liberation of the the north of the country as well from the LTTE for democratic rule to be re-established as done in the East by the Sri Lankan government.

High Commissioner Nihal Jayasinghe said that due to LTTE terrorism, Sri Lanka’s development has gone back by about 50 years. Singapore has become one of the developed nations in Asia because they had no terrorism in their country.

He stressed that neither the Sri Lankan Government nor the Sinhalese have any animosity towards Tamils. The need of the hour is to defeat terrorism so that the Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burgher communities can live together in harmony, as before and work hard to develop the country.

There were more than 280 photos depicting LTTE atrocities on display at this exhibition. There were also some video clips on LTTE attacks. Video clips on the development of the East after liberating it from LTTE clutches, were also shown to the visitors.

The Sri Lanka High Commission together with the outfit, Sri Lankans Against Terrorism in the UK and the President’s Media Unit presented this exhibition.

This photo exhibition will be held in The Hague, Netherlands on October 27 and 28 and in Paris, France on October 30 and 31.
