Technology and human resources equally important – Prof Vitharana

The Institute of Certified Professional Managers was inaugurated recently at a function held at the BMICH with the objective of developing good managerial skills for the country by offering professional qualifications and membership to those who seek to progress in the field of management.

Addressing the function, Prof. Lakshman Watawala, Founder President of the institute, said there was a need to produce quality mangers with international education and training and the institute CPM was started for that purpose.

The chief guest Minister of Science and Technology Prof Tissa Vitharana said technology and the human resource were equally important for development and it was essential that both the private and public services had the opportunity of using the latest technology as well as modern management knowledge.

The guest of honour Prof Gunapala Nanayakkara an eminent scholar in management said the Certified Manager programme in Sri Lanka under an institution sponsored by the CMA and All India Management Association signified a landmark achievement towards professionalizing the management qualification in Sri Lanka and the private sector should make use of this programme to train their young managers.
