Kelanitissa bounces back, regains 115 MW
No threat of power cuts as reservoirs brimful
The Kelanitissa thermal power plant, whose generation capacity was affected by last week’s terror strike, has begun to generate 115 MW out of a total capacity of 275 MW, the CEB says.
However, due to damage, 50 MW produced by the GT 7 generator, 40 MW by the steam operated generator and an additional 90 MW elsewhere had been lost and the power house would be operating at the optimal capacity after repairs, which the CEB engineers believe might take a couple of months.
As reservoirs were brimful, the need for effecting power cuts would not arise, the CEB said.
