      Editorial:Acid test for the US democracy
Teacher unionists, who threatened to boycott G. C. E. Ordinary Level paper evaluation demanding rectification of their salary anomalies, lost their bargaining power yesterday when Examinations Commissioner General Anura Edirisinghe announced that he has a reserve of 15,000 teachers willing to mark papers.
"The G. C. E. O/L examination will be held as two exams, one for the old syllabus and another for new syllabus. The paper marking will commence on December 28 and its first session would be completed on January 6 and we have 15,000 applications from teachers who prefer to do their job rather than falling for the unionists’ call," Commissioner ...
