The Gaussian curve plots the number of people showing whatever trait versus the degree of expression of that trait. Suppose we have ‘beastliness’; there will be a very small minority of people who have no ‘beastliness’ at the left extreme of the curve, like Max Muller and Nyanatiloka, and as we go to the right extreme of the curve, we have a small number of those with the highest degree of ‘beastliness’ as had Hitler, and in between there are those with a spectrum of beastliness low to high and in the right-ward group were the Germans who were of Hitler’s ilk.
