Police to question Olmert on corruption suspicions

JERUSALEM (AP) - Prime Minister Ehud Olmert faces a ninth round of police questioning in connection with a series of corruption probes.

Investigators were due to arrive Friday morning at Olmert’s official residence to conduct the questioning.

Olmert is under suspicion in a string of cases, including questionable real estate deals and alleged cash transfers. The allegations involve events that took place before he became prime minister in January 2006.

Olmert denies any wrongdoing, but the suspicions have forced him to announce his resignation. He is to remain caretaker prime minister until a successor is chosen in February parliamentary elections.
