Ganja cultivation raided

The Excise Department’s Colombo Special Unit raided a ten acre ganja cultivation in Kahakurullanpelessa in Hambegamuwa and found ganja worth over Rs. 2 million. Four suspects were arrested with 282 kilograms of ganja and produced before Wellawaya Magistrate on Sunday (9). Three were bailed out while the other had been remanded.

The raid was conducted on a petition received from public, Excise Commissioner General Wasantha Hapuarachchi said. Colombo Special Unit’s Excise Superintendent Upul Seneviratne, OIC Jayantha Fernando, Excise inspectors Angelo, Janaka Sirimanne and officers Ashoka Kumanayake, Asela Dickwella, Chinthaka Najathsingha conducted the raid.
