Bribery sleuths yesterday arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Agrarian Development Department, Kurunegala District, Herath Mudiyanselage Kapurubandara Herath, on a charge of accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000.

The person from whom the bribe was solicited had complained to the Commission to Investigate Allegations Against Bribery or Corruption. Its Director Investigations SSP Neville Guruge sent a team of Investigating Officers to Rajapihilla Mawatha in Kurunegala where the arrest was made.

He was produced before Kurunegala Additional Magistrate Chandani Meegoda and was ordered to be remanded till November 27.
