While Davisamara MV, Seeduwa, clinched the DSI Super Sport Volleyball U-18 title defeating Dhammissara MV, Nittambuwa, in a nail-biting five setter, Senanayake Central College, Madampe, hogged the limelight by winning all four finals which they played.

DSI Group, together with the Ministry of Education, organised and conducted the tournament for the age categories of U-12, 14, 16 and 18.

Over 4000 teams and 51,000 players from all parts of the country took part in the tournament.

The grand finale was worked off at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, on Nov. 13 and 14.

Defending champions Davisamara Central, Seeduwa, displayed great skills to retain the DSI Super Sports Volleyball Trophy after a narrow win over Dhammisara MV, Nittambuwa, in the final played before a large gathering of noisy supporters from both schools at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on Friday. Every single point scored by each school came in for loud cheers from the supports of each school.

The game went the full distance of five sets.

Dhammissara won the 1st set 26-24. Davisamara bounced back and won the next two sets 25-19 and 25-20.

The 4th set was a long drawn out affair which Dhammissara won 25-22.

Davisamara Central then fought back to win the final set 15-12 and with it the title.

Senanayake Central College, Madampe, won four titles in different age categories to hog the limelight in the tournament.

They won the mega event, the U-18 Girls’ final, defeating Anamaduwa MMV in a four setter. They won by 3-1. Senanayake Central College also won the U-16 boys’ and girls’ categories and the U-14 boys’ final.

The U-12 boys’ event was won by Wimalabuddhi MV who beat Wijeyabahu MV by 2-1.
