

Minister of Export Development and International Trade Professor G. L. Peiris left for Hong Kong on Sunday to participate in the Clinton Global initiative for Asia as the representative of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Clinton Global Initiative aims at results, converting pioneering ideas into viable solutions to urgent global challenges.
The meeting in Hong Kong on Tuesday and Wednesday, presided over by former President Bill Clinton of the United States, will focus on several themes which include ‘Balancing Growth, sustainability and Equity’ and Overcoming disparity and Deprivation’.
Professor Peiris and former President Clinton were Rhodes Scholars together in the University of Oxford. Prof. Peiris has the unique distinction of having held Distinguished Visiting Fellowships in the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London.
