SLAF fighter sorties yesterday noon attacked three LTTE
positions simultaneously, 7.5 km north east of Akkarayan, in support of
Army’s 57 Division advancing eastwards.
According to SLAF Spokesman Wing Commander Janaka
Nanayakkara the Tigers had offered some resistance to the advancing troops
operating from an earth bund consisting a bunkerlines and strong points.
"Pilots have confirmed that the bunkerline was destroyed," he said.
Some of the targets were in close proximity to the A-9 roadway, he said
