Four youth, including a soldier were remanded till December 8 by the
Nuwara Eliya Magistrate and Additional District Judge Amali Ranweera on a
charge of sexually abusing a 19-year-old girl.
Police toldCourt that the victim had no fixed aboard and as such
requested that she be sent to an appropriate detention centre until her
parents were traced.
She had told Police that she had arrived in Nuwara Eliya, from the home
of a relation in Talawakelle, in search of employment. In Nuwara Eliya she
met a youth who promised her employment and a place to live in and had
taken her to a state run guest house where he had committed the offence
followed by three others.
