In this year’s Heroes’ Day speech, he has not only pleaded with India to lift the LTTE ban, but offered to stop the war. The fearless LTTE supremo, who once roared loud and clear that he would never take a step back till he achieved his dream of a Tamil eelam has today become a toothless animal or still worse. He has given up his eelam demand and is indirectly asking for mercy.

After 25 long years of fighting, sacrificing precious lives of over 20,000 Tamil youth, maybe an equal number of Sinhalese and Muslims, politicians including frontline Tamil politicians who fed them and nurtured them, academics, religious dignitaries, innocent civilians including babes in arms, a Sri Lankan President and an Indian PM he has now realised the futility of continuing the war only after the "Sinhala army" has come to his doorstep.

Of course, there is no choice but to offer the proverbial olive branch and plead for mercy or leave the country and find refugee in a foreign land, if possible.

But his cadres or the Tamils who have suffered for over two and a half decades to help him win the crown as the all powerful monarch of his eelam can now challenge him and do as he has often asked them to do – to kill him if he ever deviated from his path to win the much hyped eelam!!!
