SB vows to become Central Province Chief Minister
KANDY - United National Party (UNP) National Organiser S. B. Dissanayake addressing a meeting of party organisers and supporters vowed to win the Central Provincial Elections to become the Chief Minister in the forthcoming election.
The meeting was held at the Mapanawathura Residence of the Kandy Mayor L. B. Aluwihare for briefing the local party leadership.
S. B. Dissanayake dismissed the claim by certain interested sectors who said that he could not contest elections due his prison term .
Dissanayake said, "I was jailed not under criminal law, but only under normal law. I lost my seat in the Parliament because I did not attend Parliament for three months.
"I requested the Speaker to help me to be in parliament. But he did not come to my rescue in spite of he being one of our own men.
S. B. Dissanayake said, it has become a problem for many people and ask how I could context an election. But I know that I could contest. I was jailed under civil law, and not found guilty of any criminal or corruption offence.
"There is not only one way to solve a problem. There are ten ways to do it,", he said.
He said he would definitely be victorious at the forthcoming Central Provincial Council election and become the chief minister.
"The government party wins the local government election in the name of Chinthana and it must be defeated at some place. I will do it at the Central Provincial Council election, S. B. Dissanayake vowed.
