As soon the late Venerable Pottewela Pannasara Thera passed away the post of Mahanayake was offered to our Venerable Veveldeniye Medhalankara Thera on 3rd of January 1998. The entitlement of “Aggamaha Saddhamma Jothiddhaja” offered by the Government of Myanmar emphasises the importance of his contribution in the island and beyond. Some honours like “Chakravarti” offered by the University of Buddhist and Pali University and “Dharma Shastra Shiromani” enshrined the venerable as the most significant living example of a pure follower of the Buddha. |
