Sirimavo wanted Parliament shifted to old building

Minister of Indigenous Medicine Tissa Karalliyedda said he would like to recall the former Premier Sirimavo Bandaranaike, who had wanted Parliament to be shifted to the old parliamentary building at Galle Face and the present parliamentary complex converted into a modern hospital. She had made the suggestion as most times there were only a very few members present in the House though it had 225 members in spite of a large amount of public funds spent to maintain the place.

She had been of the opinion that the former parliament building could easily accommodate the House at a lower cost, he said.
