Tamil Nadu actor Rajnikanth who turned 59 yesterday, cancelled celebrating his birthday in a bid to express solidarity with Sri Lankan Tamils, Chennai based web agencies reported yesterday. The reports said that his fans were performing ‘special’ poojas at various temples praying for lasting peace in Sri Lanka.

Rajnikanth was quoted as saying that the "killing of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka and the recent Mumbai massacre" has left him numbed, so he was in no mood to party.
