

Fierce fighting in the Wanni inflicted heavy casualties in the LTTE and thirteen bodies of Tiger cadres killed in battles fought in the Wanni were yesterday noon handed over to ICRC officials in Vavuniya and were later taken to be handed over to their next of kin in the uncleared areas by the LTTE army military officials said.
Of them there were 11 bodies of men and two women fighters.
In another search operation conducted by troops in Shanthisholai, Vavuniya on Thursday troops recovered 250 rounds of ammunition; a claymore mine, a hand grenade and one radio communication set military sources said.
Meanwhile in two clashes in Akkarayankulam on Wednesday, heavy damages were inflicted on Tigers.
