Heavy rains pounded Matara, Galle, Hiniduma, Kukuleganga and Kalutara causing flash floods in a number of areas in these districts yesterday (12).

Meteorologist S. Premalal said 118mm rain was recorded at Kukuleganga, 100 at Hiniduma and 83 at Galle on Thursday (11).

He said there will be scattered thunder showers during the next few days too in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts.
