down to Rs. 100

The Supreme Court yesterday ordered the government to reduce the retail price of a litre of petrol to Rs. 100 with effect from midnight yesterday.
The Minister of Petroleum Resources and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation were ordered to implement the Court order by gazette notification.
The Court further ordered that the price of Super Grade petrol be reduced realistically in keeping with the real costs.

Cabinet defers
implementation of SC directive on petrol price
The Cabinet of Ministers last evening decided to
defer implementation of the Supreme Court directive, on the Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation, to reduce the price of petrol to Rs. 100 a litre
with effect from 12 midnight yesterday, until it meets for a second time
this morning.
