Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva yesterday said the Supreme Court order reducing petrol prices was totally devoid of politics. His Court, he said, had acted in the interests of the public. He made these views, addressing the Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Judiciary Employees Association in Colombo.
It was unfortunate that the judiciary was being dragged into a political battle. He said he could say with confidence that the judiciary was above partisan politics, which, he said, did not colour any of its judgment. The Chief Justice said he felt sorry that there had been long queues of vehicles at filling stations following the Supreme Court ruling.
