Differently abled champions of the Sampath Team
"The world is full of suffering. But it is also full of people overcoming it. –- Helen Keller"
Sampath Team consists of high flyers from every walk of life. The differently abled team members too are no exception. The bank works closely with the Deaf Association of Sri Lanka to provide training and employment to speech and hearing impaired young people. The bank takes every step to promote a platform of equal opportunties to the differently abled team members through a variety of policy measures, regulations and services.
Sampath Bank is aware of the special needs of their differently abled team members and takes every measure to help them mix comfortably with the other team members. The bank actively supports them in their various interests such as sports or any other recreational activities.
Thilak Sumanadasa from the Bank Notes Operations division and Asela Jayatilake from the Central Cash Department of Sampath Bank are two differently abled team members who have not let their physical conditions hinder in acheiving their aspirations in life.
Thilak and Asela not only excelled in their work at the bank but they have also proven their strength of character and spirit being appointed Office Bearers of the Asia Deaf Cricket Federation. The conferring of the offices was done at the third Annual General Meeting of the Asia Deaf Cricket Federation, held in Lahore, Pakistan recently.
Thilak Sumanadasa was uncontested for the post of Vice President for the third consecutive year and serves the Federation in the Technical Committee as well. Asela Jayatilake too was uncontested in his appointment as an Executive Committee member.
Thilak and Asela are an inspiration to everyone and the Sampath Bank is proud of their achievements.
