



The government said it had three weeks to respond to last week’s
Supreme Court directive on the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to reduce
the price of petrol from Rs.122 to Rs.100 a litre, Media Minister
Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said at the weekly Cabinet press briefing
yesterday.
In terms of the Court order, the government has a grace period of
three weeks for the submission of its observations, but it would
arrive at a decision long before, he said.
Tuesday’s unanimous decision by the Cabinet of ministers to further
discuss the Court ruling when it met again ....
