Petes cruise to 10 wkts. win vs Bens

St. Peter’s College ended their unbeaten run against St. Benedict’s College as they cruised to an easy ten wickets victory over them with more than a session to spare in their inter-school Under-19 match ended at Kotahena yesterday.

In reply to the Petes’ 254, Bens were bowled out for 129 and 137 runs yesterday with skipper Angelo Perera being the pick of the bowlers for St. Peter’s with a match bag of seven wickets.

After being 127 for seven overnight, Bens could add only two runs to their 1st innings total. Forced to follow on, Sandun Sampath was the only batsman to top 30 runs for them. Bens avoided an innings defeat thanks to his 59-ball 32.

Sampath was also the top scorer in the first innings with 42 runs.

On the first day, brothers Angelo and Denham Perera scored half centuries for the Petes.
