The Maharagama Police yesterday arrested an opposition member of the Kotte Municipal Council in connection with the Monday’s dawn attack on the MTV’s Depanama studios. They also seized a Defender jeep.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said the suspect was arrested on a tip off to the Police Emergency Unit (119).

Police said the vehicle, which was supposed to have arrived at the Demapana MTV studio for the attack, was a white Toyota van sans number plates.

Police said the caller on 119 had informed them that the Defender jeep had been seen in the vicinity of the MTV studios in Depanama.

The suspect was being grilled by Police when this edition went to press.
