Foreign Minister visits Qatar and Dubai

Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama left yesterday for Qatar and Dubai on an official visit.

During his stay in Doha, the Minister is scheduled to have an audience with the Heir Apparent of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and also meetings with the Prime Minister & Foreign Minister, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani, as well as other Ministers and key dignitaries.

The Foreign Minister will thereafter leave for Dubai on January 12, where he will have a meeting with the President and senior officials of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. Minister Bogollagama will also chair a two day conference of Sri Lankan Heads of Mission, based in the Middle East, on January, 14-15, which will be attended by 11 envoys.

At this conference a number of issues relating to Labour & Employment, Investment Promotion, Trade and Tourism Promotion are expected to be discussed. The promotion of Sri Lanka’s tea exports to the region will figure prominently at this meeting, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
