Seylan stable, cash inflows ahead of outflows

The Seylan Bank is now stable with the net inflow of cash on Friday exceeding the outflow and net reserve ratios at comfortable levels, authoritative official sources said yesterday.

Regulatory directions issued to the bank as the Golden Key issue surfaced prevented the bank’s assets from not being applied for matters unconnected with it.

Although there had been a spate of withdrawals amounting to around Rs. 700 million initially, the bank had honoured all deposit demands, including premature withdrawals, and there has been no fund infusion into Seylan by either the Central Bank of the Bank of Ceylon both which had assured it of their full backing.
