High ranking officials of the Ministry of Health will meet next week to decide to whom the tender for cleaning hospitals should be awarded.

The awarding of the tender was halted by the Ministry when a high ranking official of the tender board awarded the contract to the highest bidder while the lowest bidder has a proven record of maintaining a perfect cleaning service in hospitals. Following representations made by the lowest tenderer the awarding of the tender was halted.

Despite the termination of the contract in October last year, the same tenderer was asked to continue till the dispute was solved.
