I wanted to share my knowledge and expertise with those who want to make hairdressing a career said Ramani Fernando at a press conference held at the Ramani Fernando salon in Borella. This was the inspiration for creating the Ramani Fernando Sunsilk Hair Academy which has now become a leading destination for up and coming stylists.

Several of the 145 students who have graduated from the Academy so far, have had the opportunity of working in one of the ten Ramani Fernando Salons located in Colombo and Kandy. Some of the graduating students have found similar jobs and placements overseas while many have started their own hair-dressing and beauty salons. Sunsilk provided full scholarships to 64 of these students.

"Being able to learn from one of the industry’s most respected icons has helped me be a true hair expert and learn beyond basic fundamentals" said Sumudu Kumarasiri, who was placed first among her batch and won the ‘Best Student Award’ last year. Sumudu has opened her own hair dressing and beauty salon in one of Colombo’s suburbs, Nugegoda and caters to a growing clientele for a proper knowledge.
