KANDY: LTTE leader Prabhakaran will never realise his dream of Eelam, parliamentarians Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran (Karuna Amman) told the media in Kandy on Friday.
Karuna, a one time colleague of Velupillai Prabhakaran, met journalists after attending a Thaipongal celebration at the Kandy Janadhipathi Mandiraya under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He said that Prabhakaran had no military strength and had declined both militarily and mentally, in the face of the military.
Prabhakaran has the option to retreat into the thick jungles of Mullaitivu after dropping this ambition of a separate state, Karuna Amman said.
He said not a single Tamil is in favour of Prabhakaran. "Tamils wish to live in harmony with the Sinhala and Muslim communities. President Rajapaksa with Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is engaged in a most acceptable war to eradicate terrorism and restore peace in the country," he noted.
Peace and mutual understanding are developing among the communities. Sri Lanka will in the near future turn to be a peaceful country, he predicted
The LTTE will never again regain its strength, he said.
Deputy Tourism Minister Faizer Mustapha was also present.
