Public administration and Home Affairs Minister Sarath Amunugama was yesterday appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Amunugama had been assisting work in the Finance Ministry for a long time and represented the President, who is also the Finance Minister, at various global conferences.

He earlier served as Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Minister but was shifted to Public Administration in a minor cabinet reshuffle by President Rajapaksa recently.

Amunugama had been Finance Minister under the previous administration and has also served as a public servant before he took to politics.
