Lasith Malinga starred once again for Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), as he makes his return to competitive cricket, this time against the Chilaw Marians in the Premier League Limited Overs competition, taking 5 for 56 from 7.2 overs.

He also impressed in NCC’s recent match against Bloomfield taking 3 for 34 from 10 overs, in his first domestic match since last February, having been sidelined due to injury.

Malinga had suffered a bone contusion in his knee – an injury triggered by repetitive impact – during the CB Series last year and has since undergone extensive treatment and physiotherapy to regain full fitness.

"It feels great to pick up wickets after such a long absence from the game," Malinga said yesterday. "I have been working really hard on my fitness and my bowling, which is now showing results."
