Nimal to chair 124th WHO Executive Board
Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva will chair the 124th Executive Board of the World Health Organization being held this week.

The Minister who left the island participated in an annual programme and the Budget Committee meetings. The budget for the next two years will be discussed and debated.

The spokesman for the Health Ministry said on Tuesday (19) that Minister de Silva will chair and address the special sessions of the Executive Committee. He will address the Committee on the ‘Global financial crisis and its possible consequences on Health,’ he said.

The meeting which is to be concluded next week (January 27) will address issues like pandemic influenza preparedness, monitoring of millennium development goals, counterfeit medical products and international recruitment of health personnel. (DJ)
