Freedom for Northern Tamils soon – Nazeer

The Northern Tamils will soon elect their own representatives to their local bodies very soon through the bold efforts of the President to emancipate the Tamils of the North from the cruelty of the LTTE, Nazeer Ahamed, Secretary General of the Muslim National Alliance (MNA) said addressing professionals and party cadres in Eravur over the weekend.

The long suffering Tamil people of the North will breathe the fresh air of freedom once the President declares ‘Mission Accomplished’ and calls for local government elections.

Striking a note of caution Nazeer Ahmed warned there were vested interests conspiring against President Rajapaksa’s people friendly government and may persist with their plans against the Government. ‘There is an international conspiracy to tarnish the image of the popular government as was seen in the recent violent attacks on the media, he continued.

The call for a truce between the government and the LTTE by the UN and European states was a part of a diabolical international conspiracy to destabilize Sri Lanka. ‘We shall not fall into the trap’.

Nazeer Ahmed said the ‘so called invincible’ Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) has been defeated and it’s a matter of weeks – not even months – before the whole country comes under one banner.

Once the war is over President Mahinda Rajapaksa will launch a massive re-construction programme to alleviate the suffering of the Tamil people.

He added there was no cause for alarm as the government has the resources to go ahead with its development programme.
