NCC meets SL Ambassadors

The members of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka had the opportunity to meet and discuss trade related issues with the two Ambassadors designate to Nepal and Myanmar, Thosapala Hewage and Newton Gunaratne respectively. They visited the Chamber on the invitation of the Chamber President D Eassuwaren recently and had one-to-one discussions with Chamber members. Representatives from Eassuwaren Brothers Ltd, Chemanex Ltd, Hettigoda Industries (Pvt) Ltd., Ninehearts (Pte) Ltd., Asian Alliance Insurance, J K Holdings, Cargoserv Shipping, Samson Rubber Industries (Pvt) Ltd, Delmege Forsyth, AB Mauri and Synex Group. participated at the discussion. The Chamber President requested both Ambassadors to help the NCCSL members to find markets and investment opportunities in both countries, which was accepted favorably by both Thosapala Hewage and Newton Gunaratne. It was highlighted that the Nepal and Sri Lanka could develop Tourism Industry, mainly religious and cultural. Nepal being a land lock country, Sri Lanka will have an opportunity to be an entrepot trade centre for products from Nepal. The Ambassador said that there are no direct flights right now from Sri Lanka to Nepal and he would discuss with both the governments, the possibility of having direct flights.
