Police arrest 25 polls law breakers
Twenty five have been arrested for violating election laws in connection with the forthcoming Central and Wayamba provincial council polls, DIG in charge of elections Gamini Nawaratne said.

He said so far 60 complaints had been received in relation to election related violence in the two provinces.

A considerable number of complaints regarding election related violence have been received from Kandy, Matale and Puttalam districts.

The DIG also said security had been strengthened in areas from where election related violence had been reported..

Police investigations have revealed the majority of violations reported have been among candidates of the same parties over preferential votes.
