Sri Lanka will be under one flag soon – Ranawaka
Kandy - Sri Lanka will return to the glorious era of Kings Dutugemunu and Gajaba with the development of the country after the capture of LTTE held areas of the North Environmental and Natural Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka predicted at a meeting at the Kandy Postal Complex auditorium, on Sunday (25). A Sathyakriyawa of the Maha Sangha was held at the Sri Dalada Maligawa to mark the eleventh anniversary of the attack on the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
Sri Lanka’s return to the period of Dutugemunu, Gajaba and Parakramabahu, could be possible under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the President gives the right political leadership to free the country from LTTE terrorism, Ranawaka said.
The heroic forces personnel encouraged by the political leadership of the President have successfully regained the regions that had gone under the control of the LTTE during the periods of administration that the security forces were restricted to barracks, he said.
President Rajapaksa is the only leader who gave the right political leadership to crush LTTE terrorism.
Some heads of state not only failed to crush terrorism but added fuel, to the fire like what happened in Black July of 1983, the Minister said. Due to the right political leadership of President Rajapaksa, LTTE leader Prabhakaran who under-estimated the strength of the government, has now lost his powers.
The National Flag will rise above all parts of the country from Devundara to Point Pedro. The present generation would be fortunate to witness the flying of the National Flag once again as a single unitary island of Sri Lanka.
Ven. Puravidya Chakravarthi Ellawala Medhananda Thero MP said that there was no salvation for those who made attempts to cause destruction to the Sacred Tooth Relic. On many occasions unscrupulous elements attempted to destroy the Sacred Tooth Relic, but none succeeded.
Prabhakaran who attempted to desecrate the Dalada Maligawa eleven years ago, will also face the same fate, the prelate said. He urged that the Sacred Tooth Relic. The sacred object which is the symbol of our nation, be protected.
The members of the Sangha and the laymen walked in precession to the Sri Dalada Maligawa to attend a Sathyakriyawa.
